Break out of the Imperial City jail by crouching by the door.
Wait for the guard to walk by and pickpocket him.
You should see two keys. Grab the appropriate one.
Wait for him to walk away and open the gate.
You can recover your items at the top of the stairs behind the watch. They should be ineaking Out of Imperial City Jail a chest labeled "Evidence".
